Assessment Process Introduction
Competency Assessment
Assessment is a way of finding out if learning has taken place. It enables to find out if a learner has gained the required skills, knowledge, understanding and/or attitudes and behaviors needed at a given point in time, towards their learning program. Assessment also provides learners with an opportunity to demonstrate what progress they have made and what they have learnt so far. Without assessment, no one will know how well, or what the learner has learnt.
Two typical kinds of Competency Assessment are: Formative (During learning session) and Summative or integrated assessment (End-point Assessment - EPL).
Qualification Assessor (Typical)
An assessor is a qualified professional who evaluates a person's skills, knowledge, professional behavior and work history to help determine their competency. The assessor’s role is to examine the examples provided and determine the competence demonstrated. Applicants must have met the required competence level prescribed in standards to be granted qualification. A senior industry worker, qualified in the relevant field, could be a competent assessor.
Assessor (NVQF, Pakistan)
NVQF Assessor is a person who assesses candidates using evidence guides and competency standards prepared by industry & notified by NAVTTC. They are certified by TTB / BTE under NAVTTC and are responsible for collecting evidence of competency and making judgments. Around 2,918 NVQ Assessors are available across Pakistan for approximately 350 NVQs.
