The Trade Testing Board Sindh (TTBS) is an institution established to oversee and regulate trade testing activities in the province of Sindh. It plays a Pivotal role in recognition the occupational knowledge, skills competence of individuals in various trades through standardized testing procedures. The board aims to maintain high standards in vocational learning recognition & certification thus contributing to the overall development of skilled labor in the region.
TTBS operates under the jurisdiction of the STEVTA and is responsible for conducting fair and transparent assessments of individuals seeking certification in different occupational trades. These trades encompass a wide range of fields which could be grouped as:
Construction and Building Electrical Information Technology Media Arts Automotive and Transportation Mechanical & Manufacturing Hospitality and Culinary Arts Business & Services Health Care Agriculture and Farming
The primary objectives of the Trade Testing Board Sindh include:
- Standardization: Establishing standardized criteria and testing procedures for evaluating vocational skills.
- Certification: Issuing recognized certificates to individuals who successfully demonstrate proficiency in their respective trades.
- Quality Assurance: Ensuring that testing processes meet national & international standards of competency assessment.
- Skill up gradation: Ensuring the Uniform, standardized testing & assessment by planning developing and impalement Examiners and Assessor Training Program.
- Industry Relevance: Aligning certification with the evolving needs of industries to promote employability and career advancement.
By upholding these objectives, the Trade Testing Board Sindh contributes significantly to the overall economic growth of the province by fostering a skilled workforce capable of meeting industry demands.

I feel privileged to welcome you on to the Website of Trade Testing Board Sindh (TTBS) the premier organization responsible for skill testing and Vocational certification system in Sindh. Since its inception in 1995, TTBS has been providing skill/competency testing services in a large number of skill sectors and levels including NVQF Levels 1 to 4. The skill test certification system is carried out for those individuals who have acquired vocational skills from formal, informal, and non-formal settings. The aim of TTBS is to certify competent skilled workforce focusing on their recognition in the local & global markets. The bilateral initiative of TEVTAs and NAVTTC to setup a National Vocational Qualifications System (NVQS) in Pakistan is taking rapid strides toward progress and the National Vocational Qualifications Framework (NVQF) has been developed and progressing since 2011. The NVQF is a guiding document and proceeding further accordingly. Hence, TTBS has been transformed into the National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) awarding Body along with 11 other bodies across the country. Finally, TTB Sindh highly expect your cooperation and supports to make National Vocational Qualifications System (NVQ) successful. Introduction
- The Trade testing board constituted in Pursuance of Universities & Board Department, Government of Sindh letter No. STEVTA/ U&B/TTB/2024/145(2) dated 06 Feb. 2024 and of sub-section 2 section- 5 of the National Training (amendment) ordinance 2002 to develop, regulate and control Vocational training in Sindh province. The Board is composition of Trade Testing Board Sindh, including Chairman, Secretary and 09 Members from TEVT organizations & Industry.

The Sindh Trade Testing Board (STTB) operates under a structured organizational framework designed to ensure efficiency, transparency, and accountability in all its functions. Our leadership team oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of vocational training standards and examination systems across Sindh.
The following organizational chart illustrates the hierarchy and key administrative roles within the Board, highlighting the coordination between departments to deliver quality services and uphold institutional excellence.
The Sindh Trade Testing Board remains committed to maintaining transparency, integrity, and quality in all its operations. Our organizational framework ensures effective decision-making and service delivery for trainees, institutions, and stakeholders across Sindh.
History
Before 1947, vocational training in the Sub Continent was primarily provided through traditional apprenticeship systems. Skills were passed down within families or communities, focusing on crafts, trades, and agricultural techniques. After independence, Pakistan’s government recognized the need for formal vocational training to boost industrial growth. In 1963, the first major step was the establishment of Two Technical training centers (TTCs) in Karachi and Dhaka (East Pakistan at That era) Respectively. and institutions aimed at supporting economic development by Providing skilled labor force to industry. 1970s was the decade when National Training bureau (NTB) with the intention to develop, Implement, regulate & evaluate Technical and Vocational Training across the country. Provincial Training bureaus PTBs were founded in Balochistan, NWFP( KPK) Punjab & Sindh. The Trade testing board was established in 1994 by The PTB as Skilling Testing and Vocational qualification awarding Body of Sindh. Prior to that, The Sindh Board of Technical Education was the awarding body for Vocational Qualifications. Syed Nazar Ali Hold the position of founder chairman & Mr. Muhammad Ali Siddiqui started TTBs operations as Pioneer secretary. First qualification was awarded to Learner from Vocational Training Institute for Women (formaly TTC Women) Bufferzone Karachi. Ms. Rukhsana Baig D/o Ahmed Mustafa Khan in Civil Drafting Trade through NOSS Grade III training system in 1996.
Early humans crafted tools from stone to aid in hunting, cutting, and daily survival. These artifacts highlight the beginning of human ingenuity and the origins of skill-based work.
With the discovery and use of iron, tools became stronger, sharper, and more efficient. This marked a turning point in human development, leading to innovations in agriculture, construction, and craftsmanship.
